All LAGs and Accountable Bodies have been invited to identify and self-nominate two participants to sit on this group, and we have now received all names. At the the first group meeting, we shall decide, as part of the terms of reference, whether we should make all the names of the participants publicly available, via this site. In the meantime, if you would like the list of the names, please email: colin.whelan@defra.gsi.gov.uk
The first meeting will now take place on 5 March in Birmingham. I shall provide an updated agenda and terms of reference before this meeting, and will provide the minutes after the meeting.
Background
Over the next 6-12 months, Defra will have to consider and develop its policy and implementation/delivery positions regarding the Leader approach in relation to the Common Strategic Framework and the next Rural Development Regulation. Given LAGs and Acountable Bodies (ABs) valuable experience, Defra wants to ensure that the views of LAGs and ABs are fully understood and considered, as the Department develops its policy and implementation arrangements for the Common Strategic Framework and Rural Development Regulation, post-2013.
It is anticipated that the group will act as a sounding board and 2-way discussion group. The group will provide a structured environment for LAGs and ABs, Defra and appropriate Government Departments to share experience, ideas and views. Note: the first meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the exact terms of reference and practical operation of the group.
This page will be updated regularly with the latest group news and activities. The next update will include details of the first meeting.
