Northumberland Uplands Local Action Group (NULAG) is embarking on an innovative series of joint education activities with Leader Linne - a LAG in southern Sweden.
NULAG and Leader Linne have linked up over the past two years, sharing experiences and encouraging study tours to each other's respective area.
Now the two LAGs are running on-line lessons about the EU and how LAG members fit in to its structures. They will also link-up in an online workshop in September and visit Brussels together in November to attend the next Leader sub-committee meeting, meet their MEPs and visit the offices of the European Network for Rural Development.
The overall aim of this joint education is to increase LAG members and officers understanding of the Leader approach and its application at the European level. By understanding more about Leader and how the EU works both LAGs hope to learn what opportunities will exist in the future for Local Action Groups.
