Re-run of 'Essentials of Community Development'

In partnership with the University of Gloucestershire, the CCRI is pleased to present a short course programme entitled ‘Essentials of Community Development' (ECD). This programme originally ran in February and March 2011, and due to its success is now running again in Feburay and March 2012.

This short course programme offers the option of study for just one or several days.

From looking at alternative ways of using energy, to getting the most out of shared resources, the ECD programme focuses on how to develop sustainable communities in a time of challenging economic cuts. It directly links to the Government's proposals for the Big Society and more local decision making. The courses have been designed to help people from all walks of life put sustainability into practice, and will help participants enhance key skills, such as collecting good quality data and how to use it to achieve goals, and will also develop project management skills.

There are four one-day programmes, which can be taken either individually or as a complete programme. The courses are all quality assured by the University of Gloucestershire and will be delivered at the University's Cheltenham Park campus.

The expertise within the CCRI in Community Development is widely recognised. CCRI's Senior Research Fellow Dr John Powell will lead the programme and will be supported by other experts from the University.
